We are spreading the word: an easier cloud computer software is possible!
UNICORN project has obtained a very positive feedback at the presentation held in Karlsruhe during the Collaborative European Research Conference (CERC) last week.
The UNICORN project, co-financed by the European Union under the Horizon2020 Research and Innovation programme, brings together leading European research/academic institutions, industries and SMEs in the field of cloud and software technologies, which are meeting in Cyprus on the 1-2 June. The project team, formed of experienced specialists in a wide variety of areas, seeks to achieve one common goal: make cloud services easier for SMEs and startups! While the first day of their meeting is scheduled for the Plenary Session, the second one will also focus on technical topics and practical workshops: besides an overview of the project goals and concepts, the event will include some talks and practical exercises on innovative areas such as cloud management, code and online communication. In fact, UNICORN is also on the track to promote its achievements and disseminate them Europewide with a newly developed Roadmap that will be discussed in a meeting as well. How will this project make multi-cloud software more accesible for entrepreneurs? The project is going to simplify the design, deployment and management of multi-cloud services for SMEs. Besides, it will offer a better security in this kind of platforms. The innovation activities will be based upon existing solutions and developments to the largest possible extent.
Innovation is up in the cloud! Net Futures 2017 Conference (28th and 29th of June) is the proof! It gathered European innovators-users and providers of the ICT sector, policy makers and civil society, and offered a great opportunity for stakeholder engagement, leading towards further developments in the sector. Here are some examples:
Concertation meeting. H2020 projects from unit "Cloud and software" came together on June, 28th. It was a unique context to get to know each other in person, share the best practices, discuss the market and project exploitation possibilities.
'Crazy times'. The 'Minute Madness' format allowed projects participants to briefly present themselves and interact with each other.
A 'Unicorn' in the room. This was a great chance for the UNICORN project to present its approach on how to make cloud software easier and safer for SMEs. UNICORN took part in the above-mentioned 'elevator speech' event.
SME's friendly platforms are possible. UNICORN project coordinator, Spiros Alexakis, participated in a discussion on how to boost cloud ecosystem focused on small and medium enterprises.
...And this was only a part of the agenda to revolutionize the European cloud!

Efficiently applying a DevOps work model in companies allows to gain agility, flexibility and better performance, thus improving time-to-market. Combined with the benefits of the cloud, it has become one of the keys to digital transformation. However, it is important to underline that security is conditioned by the deployment environment.
