Founded in 1986, CAS Software AG (CAS) has become the German, market-leading innovator for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and is the leading expert for eXtended relationship management (xRM) in Europe. With over 300 staff members, CAS Software serves more than 200.000 users and over 7500 customer companies and organizations worldwide. Via strategic partnerships, CAS Software is represented in over 30 countries on 3 continents. CAS Software maintains an elaborated partner model with more than 200 software houses in Germany and 60 partners worldwide, that are developing solutions based on CAS Software technology. Role in the project: CAS Software is the co-ordinator of the project, responsible for the administrative project management of UNICORN. In addition, CAS co-ordinates design and development of Dashboard Management Tool, leads the exploitation activities as well as the administration management and quality assurance tasks. CAS contributes with an own demonstrator involving the public incubator of Cyberforum, based on CAS Open, a platform for CRM/xRM solutions that supports the Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) paradigm, hosting Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions.
The University of Cyprus (UCY) is the largest University and main research organisation in Cyprus. UCY has a student population of 7000 (2000 graduate). The Dep. of Computer Science has 21 faculty members, and 100 postdoctoral researchers and PhD students. Its research activities cover Intelligent and Distributed Systems, Software Engineering, Internet and Mobile Technologies, e-Health, and e-Government. The Dep. publishes more than 100 journal papers per year and attracted a total funding of more than 30 MEuro in the last decade. LINC, Laboratory for Internet Computing-Department of Computer Science - has extensive experience in network-centric computing and software for large-scale distributed systems: Cloud, Grid, Peer-to-Peer and Vehicular Computing; Trustworthy Cloud Computing; Content Distribution Networks; Semantic Web and Web 2.0 technologies. Role in the project: UCY is the scientific coordinator of UNICORN and leads the WP2: Client Web IDE Plugin and the WP5: Cloud Governance. UCY also contributes in the software architecture definition of the UNICORN platform.
The history of Maggioli Spa is that of a large company established almost a century ago, when the family’s first presses printed slips for council offices. It is a history that continued to evolve, hand in hand with the evolution of Public Administration. Today, the Maggioli Group is acknowledged as being the main Italian corporate organization with a guiding role for those who operate in Local Public Administrations. Through the work of the various companies in its group, Maggioli contributes to improving the managerial effectiveness and efficiency of the public reality and related professions. Maggioli offers a broad range of specific, highly professional solutions in several domains (business divisions): Document Management, Publishing & Conventions, Training, Education & Consulting, Local Tax and Revenue Management, Services, Information Technology. The main role of MAGGIOLI is that of the system integrator, leading the WP 1: Architecture, Integration & Testing. MAGGIOLI has also a substantial involvement in WP 7 (Project Management) as it is responsible for the task 7.3 (Risk Management).
The Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) is one of the largest research institutes of Greece with well- organized facilities and highly qualified staff. It operates under the supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Hellenic Ministry of Education. FORTH has been ranked the 12th place at European level in the Fourth FP7 Monitoring Report of the 20 research organizations with the highest numbers of participations in FP7 signed grant agreements during the period 2007-2010. The Institute of Computer Science (FORTH-ICS), one of the six institutes of FORTH, has a relatively long history since its establishment in 1983, in conducting basic and applied research, developing applications and products, providing services, and playing a leading role in Greece and internationally, in the fields of Information and Communication Technologies. Role in the project: FORTH leads the WP4: Continuous Security and Data Privacy Enforcement Mechanisms. More specifically FORTH leads the tasks related to the realization of the security and data restriction policy enforcement mechanisms and the risk, cost and vulnerability assessment.
SUITE5 Ltd is an Information Technology Solutions and Services SME, founded in 2012 in the United Kingdom, by a set of talented and creative young people with a strong background in the ICT domains and with excellent management skills. Motivated by the unprecedented technological advancements of the Web2.0 era and the outstanding research results that led to such developments, the people behind SUITE5 joined forces in order to transform research. The mission of the company is to deliver innovative solutions through state-of-the art technologies, required for any organisation in order to remain competitive, creative and effective. By combining strong technology know-how and hands on approach in managing and implementing projects commissioned by the public and the private sector, SUITE5 provides research-inspired solutions and practical support for its clients in order to leverage. Role in the project: SUITE5 is responsible for the design and implementation of the pilot case which will infuse the project’s outcomes into the development factoring of the S5 ATracker software. Moreover, Suite5 coordinates the piloting work package, being responsible for the smooth task execution of the Business demonstrators that will test and validate the UNICORN system.
The European Digital SME Alliance (DSME), formerly known as PIN-SME the “the voice of ICT SMEs in Europe”, is the first European association of the ICT sector exclusively focused of representing the interests of SMEs. The members of the European Digital SME Alliance are national sectorial SME associations from different EU countries. It represents more about 20.000 digital enterprises across Europe. Since 2010 The European Digital SME Alliance has undertaken a joint effort together with UNI Europa ICT, the EU trade union federation for the ICT sector, in order to establish a European Social Dialogue for the IT sector. The European Digital SME Alliance is a member of UEAPME, the European association of SMEs representing over 12 Million SMEs across Europe and is the sectoral leading member for ICT related policies. Role in the project: As a sectorial organisation DSME represents the European SMEs in the ICT sector. Therefore, DIGITAL SME leads the communication and dissemination WP, having an active role in spreading the results of the project at the European scale and acting as a disseminator and facilitator to SMEs.
Deutsches Institut fuer Normung E.V. (DIN) is a non-profit organization recognized as a German National Standards body representing Germany in European and international standardization activities. DIN prepares standards as services for the economy, state and community. Standardization is considered as a strategic instrument to support economy and the society in general. It reduces the need for legislation and supports convergence in technology whilst allowing for a wide range of local solutions if needed. DIN supports any R&D projects with the concept of R&D Phase Standardization, which covers any activity with the aim of early identification of standardization potential of products and services, establishment of standardization processes and assistance with public availability of the results of these processes. Because of this the sustainable transfer of knowledge and technology will be enhanced and accelerated in innovative fields. The role of DIN is to support the identification of standardization potentials at an early stage of this research project and to analyze currently existing standards and standardization activities. Based on this, specific standardization strategies will be developed.
UBITECH is a leading, highly innovative software house, systems integrator and technology provider, established to provide leading edge intelligent technical solutions and consulting services to businesses, organizations and government in order to allow the efficient and effective secure access and communication with various heterogeneous information resources and services, anytime and anywhere. UBITECH enables real-time valid information processing and decision-making, the realization of intelligent business environments, and B2B and B2C transactions by providing high added-value business – oriented and –based solutions. UBITECH has been established in Athens, Greece back in 2005, concentrated initially in the Greek and Balkan market and acquiring several EC and national grants for novel R&D initiatives. UBITECH undertakes the responsibility of the technical coordination as well as the validation and comparative analysis of competing technologies, in strong collaboration with the Scientific Coordinator, the Project Coordinator and the project’s key technology providers. Moreover, UBITECH leads the activities of WP3, realizing a multi-Cloud orchestrator. UBITECH significantly contributes to the architectural design in WP1 and in the implementation of the privacy by design mechanisms in WP4. Additionally, UBITECH is going to contribute with its own use case in the UNICORN demonstrators. As one of the project’s RTD performers, UBITECH also contributes to the integration and testing activities, support the demonstrators’ deployment, operation and evaluation.
Steinbeis Foundation (STW) was founded in 1971 in order to support local SMEs in technology transfer and innovation. Steinbeis provides a direct link between customers and leading experts in a variety of specialist fields, safeguarding transfer from research and development, consulting, expert evaluation, and training and education. In 2014, STC realized more than 22.000 projects with approx. 10.000 customers; the turnover reached about 145 million Euro with the help of more than 5.500 experts (full/part time) in nearly all fields of technology and innovation. STC is doing its business mainly via approx. 1000 Steinbeis Transfer Centers, which are independent entities of different size and service orientation. Role in the project: Steinbeis offers technology and management competence from a single source across a unique spectrum of fields, making its services available to partners and clients of all sizes in all kinds of areas. In doing so, it acts as a troubleshooter or service provider.
The Cloud Incubator HUB (Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena) was launched in 2011 by the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (http://www.upct.es/) to support entrepreneurs wanting to start mobile technology-focused businesses. It is a business incubator/accelerator of the UPCT whose main purpose is to encourage start-ups in the field of ICT. It currentlly organises several Incubation and Acceleration Programmes for tech entrepreneurs in its facilities at Fuente Álamo Technology Park (Murcia, Spain). More than 500 european startups have participated in the different accelerator programs organized by Cloud Incubator HUB during the last years (Cincubator, Power Girl, Startup Scaleup and EU-XCEL), having received business and technological training, access to infrastructures to test their apps or products, as well as support of international mentors and access to finance for ongoing development. Our current angel network has invested over K€ 800 in our startups. Role in the project: CINCUBATOR will drive the Idea Innovation Contest and all services regarding the support, mentoring, coaching and training of the selected SMEs and start-ups to join the demonstration sessions and execute their own use cases adopting the UNICORN features.
Redikod AB, a privately held Swedish SME, was established as a game developer in 1997, and has experience not only in multi-platform entertainment games, but also serious games, gamification, and the development of client-server, components and middleware systems, such as Redikod's own General Redikod's gamification experience include e-learning applications as well as medical technology, the latter through advanced tablet computer app and connected server database development for attention-deficit disorder and age dementia diagnostic-support software, from development through clinical trials Redikod is a sister company of Nordic Game Resources AB, that owns and operates the Nordic Game conference, which became the largest professional events of its kind in Europe in 2015, its 12th year. Nordic Game communication activities have full reach to the global games industry as well as European general media. Redikod's role in the project concentrates on the implementation of their Use Case. Moreover, CINCUBATOR participates in dissemination and exploitation of project results in WP7: it serves as the liaison with the Nordic Game Community to support the project outreach activities within the Nordic Game industry primarily, and the wider European games industry secondarily.
